Lhermitte's Sign

Here's a weird symptom a lot of people with MS have experienced. It has an odd name - lhermitte's sign - and it refers to an electrical sensation you get when tilting your head forward or backward. I noticed it during my diagnosis. I've also noticed it periodically since.

It is considered a classic sign of multiple sclerosis, although there are other conditions which can cause this as well. Also, not all MS patients present with this sign. Still, good for people to know what it is and the official name for it.

I was diagnosed with RRMS a year and a half ago after waking up one morning with double vision (which lasted about 2 weeks). Following the double vision, and before I started therapy (so esentially during my diagnosis), I started getting this electrical sensation down the front of my legs when I'd look down (chin to chest). Good 'ole l'hermittes sign!!! I still experience it mildly from time to time, but it doesn't almost take out my legs from under me like before I started therapy....
